How to Plan a Hen Party

You have been chosen as the maid of honour and probably thinking where do I even start with the hen party planning? The role of Maid of Honour comes with stress and importance. You are thinking to yourself I don't want to let the bride down or the bridal party, after all there's a reason they have given you this responsibility and you probably feel like you need to meet the expectations and go above and beyond.

First things first, don't let the title of Maid of Honour scare you. You have got this, they already know your going to do an amazing job, which is why they are putting all their trust in you. You have the opportunity to be as creative as you want, think outside the box and be in charge. Own it!! However, don't get too carried away this isn't your hen party you are planning for. You need to think about what sort of thing they would love as a hen party. .

Tip #1 - Gather your girls

So before anything, it is vital to gather your girls and create a group chat, this excludes the bride as you want to create the best surprise hen party. The initial idea of planning your own wedding is exciting but I think all brides to be will agree with the list of things to do is never ending and can get very stressful. This is why we think it Is important for the hen party to be kept a secret until the day, it gives the bride to be the excitement to the lead up to the wedding after all them months of stress and hard work.

Gathering your girls on a group chat can really help you to feel supported and will help you to brainstorm the best possible ideas suited to your bride. You will all have different sort of relationships with the bride to be, for example you might be the sister to the bride to be but she might spend the majority of her days with her best friend that she works and parties with. You will both have different ideas to what you think she would like, which is why you can try to combine both ideas to create the most suited hen party to the bride to be.

Tip #2 - Brainstorm Ideas

Okay, so you have a group chat and everyone is telling you what they think the bride to be will love. Girl, you need to start brainstorming!! You might not agree with some of the ideas the girls are giving you but don't forget you all have different experiences and relationships with the bride to be, so include them all in your brainstorm. Get yourself a hen party planner (and yes these are out there, they will save your life).

Tip #3 - Don't get carried away

100% go above and beyond but let's not forget who we are planning a hen party for. Don't get into the mindset of what you would love. Ask yourself what type of person is the bride to be. Does she love a fuss and being centre of attention? or maybe the bride to be is more reserved and quiet. You need to think about what sort of hen party suits her more. If you have a bride to be that doesn't really enjoy drinking alcohol then you don't want to be planning a night out. You want this night to be enjoyable and excitable for them, you want them to to feel special and appreciate how much thought you have put into it.

Tip #4 - Mix it up

This step we are so passionate about. No 2 brides are the same so try not to do the expected thing like hiring a party bus and hitting the town, girl, that was so last year. Let's set the bar high and make it unique. Depending on the person of the bride to be, you can really go wild with different ideas for the perfect hen party. When we say hen party, this doesn't necessarily mean drinking alcohol and going out so please don't base the hen party on this. There are so many avenues to go down.

So the next big thing for hen parties is finding the most perfect bachelorette pad, maybe even with a Jacuzzi or swimming pool, decorating it, making it completely instagrammable with lots of little personalised bits. why not choose a theme. As the Bachelorette Girls, this is what we are all about and can help you with. You let us do all the hard work, all you need to do is show up with your girls and take the credit.

Weekends away are another option, again depending on your bride, you might want to go abroad or maybe even a city break. These options can be utilised to however you would want. You would be able to explore the city and consider a range of activities/day trips the city offers.

Day Activities are another option, this could be anything from wine tasting, paint balling, camping, spa days, concerts and festivals. The list is endless. Day activities are an exciting way to start the hen party, do something the bride has never done before but make sure it's something you know she would enjoy.

Tip #5 - Don't ignore the to do list

Girl, if you leave the hen party to last minute it will definitely show. You have gathered

the girls, you know the numbers, you have figured out what sort of hen party you are trying to plan, you have an itinerary so don't think that's it you are done. The hen party might be months away but you need to be organised. You should have a to do list you need to be working through. Don't keep telling yourself you have plenty of time. If things are not booked that's when people make other plans and numbers start to drop. You are then left panicking on what you can pull out of the bag last minute. Send out bachelorette invitations to make it official.

There is no reason for you to not start pricing things up and sending over quotes to your girls. Remember you are not going to please everyone and that's okay, your job is to please the bride. If the majority of the group think the pricing is reasonable then go ahead. People will complain about prices but you need to think about how happy the bride to be will be, every penny will be worth it. Please be mindful with pricing, not everyone is in the same position which is why you need to book in advance.

Tip #6- Don't forget about the little things- make it personal

So this is a must in every hen party! Personalised little bits, just to create a more personal fun hen party. This can be anything from a personalised veil for the bride, Pj's, Personalised bottle of Prosecco or even sashes. It's these little personal things that will complete your hen party look!
